So DeviantART is officially 14, how crazy is that? I've only been here for four of those years however (5 in December) and hell has it flown by. Let's feature some of the stuff I posted throughout those years:
2009
I made this here account on the 8th of December 2009, so I was only here for about a month in 2009. I had moved over here from an old Warrior Cats roleplay site on which I posted a lot of drawings, of mine and other people's characters. After finding out that the majority of my other arty friends on there were making accounts here, I decided to join in and make one. I was super overwhelmed by all the talent here, and how to navigate the site and stuff. I got into the habit of posting my pictures here instead of the roleplay website I was on, since viewing and posting artwork was so much more convenient here.
2010
This year I really got into the spirit and uploaded a ton of stuff. After discovering the thriving community of warriors fans with their stunning artwork, I felt pressured and inspired to practice harder to try to reach their level. It was so hard though omg.
A hell of a lot happened, I drew a helluva lot and there were considerable changes in my art style. I got the hang of how I wanted to draw, and what I wanted my style to look like, but I was still not happy with it. I also got my first tablet this year, which I still use now. My trusty lil' guy. I used a laptop mouse/trackpad beforehand so moving onto a tablet was orgasmic.
2011
This year I discovered how popular roleplaying was on dA, and being a big fan of roleplay myself I dived straight into it. After realizing how easy and fun it was on here, it wasn't long before I left my old roleplay site altogether and moved here completely. I would roleplay with my warriors characters almost every day, and heard news of a group opening up called The Golden Butterfly, which I thought sounded awesome so I kept my eye on the group and talked a bit with the to-be founders. As it turned out, one of my friends was already assigned to be leader of Earth-Tribe, and chose me as their deputy. She didn't stay as leader for much longer than a couple of months however, so I raised up in the ranks and became the leader. It was a terrifying experience but exciting and rewarding all the same, since I talked to many awesome people and made new friends. Who would have known that that group would rise to what it is today, eh? Almost every other artist I see has been a part of it one way or another.
2012
2012 was nuts cause a lot changed in my life, it was crazy as balls. There was a period of being so happy and hanging out with friends and then a good couple of months where I felt at my all time low, which is why I kind of think of 2012 as my dark year or something cheesy. However now I like to think of it as the year where I met up with NoreyDragon at her home in Germany which was just such an amazing 10 days. I also got Photoshop CS6 this year which is a big plus, so I finally moved on from GIMP 2.6.
I think this was the year in which I gave up roleplaying, cause I was just getting too worked up and stressed about it. I wasn't involved in any dramas, but everything was running away underneath me and I wasn't finding it as fun anymore. I've been thinking of starting again for the last couple of months, but I keep putting it off.
2013
Wow this year I hardly did anything. I was in the thicket of college so most of the drawing I was doing was toward my college projects or little things here and there, not many big personal projects. This was kind of a year where nothing really happened except course work and I was pretty much bored the entire time. My laptop broke, too. Good year.
2014
Okay 2014 so far has been my favourite year for both personal and art stuff. I started livestreaming every week which lead to me making more friends, more pictures that I genuinely liked and basically just felt a hell of a lot more confident in myself. This year has made me feel a lot more comfortable in my style of drawing and has opened my eyes to which direction I want to take next, and how to improve further. I went to Egypt, found some games that I really really loved
I also make my step from college to University this year which is yet to happen, but I'm sure both myself and my artwork will change drastically from it.
Excited to see what the next years will look like.
In conclusion, dA has given me the motivation and inspiration to keep drawing, improve my skills, make friends and just become so much happier and confident in myself. Sometimes I wonder how different my life would be if I decided not to make an account here. I wouldn't have you guys, that's for sure. I can't express how thankful I am for all of your support, you have helped me so much, both with art and with myself. Wow getting emotional here.
